Day 1: Punta Arenas → Puerto Williams
Meeting and transfer to PUQ Airport.
Day 2: Puerto Williams → Laguna del Salto
Distance: ~10 km
Time: 4–6 hours
Elevation gain: +600 m
Departing from Puerto Williams, taking the trail that starts near Cerro Bandera. .
Highlights: Panoramic view of the Beagle Channel, Cerro Bandera, first glimpse of the Dientes de Navarino.
Day 3: Laguna del Salto → Laguna Escondida
Distance: ~9 km
Time: 5–7 hours
Elevation: +500 m / -450 m
A day of crossing several mountain passes! The first is Paso Primero, followed by Paso Australia, and then Paso de los Dientes. The trail is technical, with loose rocks and exposed sections, but the mountain views are breathtaking. After the last pass, the trail descends to Laguna Escondida, a great spot to set up camp.
Highlights: Views of the Dientes, alpine lagoons, crossing mountain passes.
Day 4: Laguna Escondida → Laguna Martillo
Distance: ~10 km
Time: 5–6 hours
Elevation: +400 m / -500 m
You continue over rocky terrain to Paso Ventarrón, where the wind is usually strong (as the name suggests). From here, the views of the Beagle Channel and surrounding islands are spectacular. The trail continues to Laguna Martillo, surrounded by impressive peaks.
Highlights: Paso Ventarrón, epic views of the Beagle, chance to spot condors.
Day 5: Laguna Martillo → Laguna los Guanacos
Distance: ~8 km
Time: 4–6 hours
Elevation: +350 m / -400 m
This is a day of steep climbs and technical descents. You pass through Paso Virginia, the highest point of the circuit (approx. 860 m). The descent to Laguna los Guanacos is challenging, but the scenery makes it worthwhile: glacial lagoons and mountains reflected in crystal-clear water.
Highlights: Paso Virginia, views of the archipelago, isolated mountain lagoons.
Day 6: Laguna los Guanacos → Puerto Williams
Distance: ~12 km
Time: 5–7 hours
Elevation: -800 m
The final trekking day, with a long descent through native forests until returning to civilization in Puerto Williams. Arrival in town brings a mix of relief and nostalgia for the wild landscapes left behind.
Highlights: Subantarctic forests, local flora, sense of achievement completing the southernmost trekking circuit in the world.
Day 7: Puerto Williams → Punta Arenas
Transfer to Puerto Williams and flight to PUQ. End of activities in Punta Arenas.
