Do I need to be an experienced cyclist to join?
Not necessarily. This bike trip can be adjusted to a more contemplative or intermediate profile. Good physical condition and some familiarity with several-hour rides are important, but the itinerary is not designed as a competition.
The support vehicle allows distances, pace and sections to be adapted according to the group’s level.
Is this itinerary a race or competition?
No. The proposal is a bike touring, nature and active travel experience through Northern Patagonia. The focus is on landscape, safety, movement and the group experience — not on performance or speed.
Can I do the itinerary with an e-bike?
Yes. The itinerary can be organized with e-bikes, depending on local availability, participant sizes, battery range and booking lead time.
E-bikes can be a good option for groups that want to reduce physical effort, especially on days with climbs, such as Osorno Volcano.
What type of bike is recommended?
The itinerary works well with gravel bikes, MTB, hybrid bikes or e-bikes. Road bikes can be considered only in adapted versions, prioritizing 100% paved sections.
Because there are short gravel sections and a possible combination with trekking, the bike choice should be aligned with the group profile and the final itinerary format.
Are bikes included?
It depends on the contracted format. The program can be organized with participants’ own bikes or with locally rented bikes/e-bikes.
If bikes are rented in the region, availability, sizes, bike condition, battery range for e-bikes and booking conditions must be confirmed in advance.
Is there a support vehicle during the itinerary?
Yes. We recommend a support vehicle during the cycling days to provide greater safety, flexibility and logistical comfort.
The vehicle can support the group in case of fatigue, adverse weather, simple mechanical issues, bike transportation, return transfers on one-way ride days and route adjustments according to the group’s needs.
What is the best season for this bike trip?
The most recommended months are November, December, March and April.
October or May may also be considered, depending on weather, accommodation availability, bike/e-bike availability and local logistics.
We recommend avoiding January and February, as these are the busiest tourist months in southern Chile.
Where does the group stay?
The simplest and most efficient option is to use Ensenada as the main base, avoiding constant hotel changes and allowing quick access to the main sectors of the itinerary: Petrohué, Las Cascadas, Osorno Volcano, Cochamó and La Picada.
It is also possible to combine nights in Puerto Varas and Ensenada, especially when flights arrive late, when the group wants an opening or closing dinner in town, or when it makes sense to include a light urban experience before or after the cycling days.
Is the climb to Osorno Volcano mandatory?
No. The climb to Osorno Volcano is the most demanding day of the itinerary and can be adapted to the group profile.
It can be done in full, partially, with an e-bike or with vehicle support. The bike descent is recommended only for participants with experience and good conditions on the day.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Northern Patagonia has variable weather. In case of heavy rain, wind, low visibility, cold temperatures, poor road conditions or any situation that affects safety, the itinerary can be adjusted.
Adaptations may include reducing distance, using the support vehicle more, changing the schedule, replacing the activity, changing the sequence of days or replacing certain sectors.
Can the itinerary be adapted to the group level?
Yes. Distances, pace, bike type, accommodation, meals, included experiences and level of support can be adjusted according to the group profile.
The proposal can be more contemplative, focused on landscapes and logistical comfort, or more active, with a higher cycling volume and specific challenges.
Is Day 6 with bike + trekking mandatory?
No. The La Picada / Paso Desolación / Petrohué day can be adapted according to weather, fitness level and group interest.
It is possible to do the full version with bike + trekking, do only the trekking with vehicle support to La Picada, or propose a shorter version in case of unfavorable weather.
Does the itinerary include hikes?
Yes. Some short hikes can be included depending on the group’s pace, such as Petrohué Waterfalls, Las Cascadas and the Paso Desolación trek on Day 6.
These hikes help diversify the experience and connect the bike trip with the mountain landscape of the region.
Are Cochamó Hot Springs included?
They may be included, depending on the contracted format and availability. Day 5 includes a ride toward the Cochamó sector, with the possibility of finishing at the hot springs for rest and recovery.
The inclusion of hot springs, entrance fees and additional services must be confirmed in the final proposal design.
What meals are included?
It depends on the contracted format. The program may include only breakfast, snacks, fruit and hydration during the rides, or a more complete model with box lunches, picnics and previously defined dinners.
Welcome dinner, closing dinner and local gastronomic experiences can also be included upon request.
What is normally included?

Is travel insurance required?
Yes. All participants must travel with adequate travel insurance, preferably with coverage for outdoor activities, recreational cycling and assistance in case of accident or medical need.
Is this itinerary suitable for private groups?
Yes. The bike trip was designed for small groups, clubs, agencies, coaching teams, companies or active travelers seeking a private and well-planned experience in Northern Patagonia.
The program can be tailor-made according to the group profile, dates, number of participants and desired service standard.
